The 3rd Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) Congress, organized under the theme “Holistic Medicine in a Healthy Turkey Century” in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, USHAŞ, and the World Health Organization (WHO), was held at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center between October 3-5, 2025.
Held under the auspices of the Presidency, the congress began with an opening program attended by participants from 31 countries. The opening ceremony featured speeches by Katsumata Takahiko, Ambassador of Japan to Turkey; İlgar Gasimov, Deputy Minister of Health of Azerbaijan; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angel Ivanov Kunchev, Deputy Minister of Health of Bulgaria; Dr. Ochirbat Dagvadorj, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health of Mongolia, Mikheil Sarjveladze, Minister of Labor, Health, and Social Affairs of Georgia, and Dr. Musaab Nazzal al-Ali, Minister of Health of Syria, delivered welcoming speeches. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, participated via video message.
The congress, which continued with the opening speech by Health Minister Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, addressed the integrative medicine approach in clinical practice in 27 sessions held in 5 separate halls. With a total of 178 presentations, the congress welcomed nearly 2,000 participants on the first day. The high turnout continued on the second and third days. The event brought together scientists, healthcare professionals, and international representatives, providing an opportunity to share knowledge and experience in the fields of traditional and complementary medicine.
